i INTRODUCTION TO RADIO
Analysis of 2 JINGLES
who is the target audience and why?
what stands out about the jingle?
Relax FM
- The target audience are anyone who wants to find something soothing and calming. The music in the background stood out as it allowed me to realise the radio station would help anyone in a bad state to calm down. The target audience are people around the age of 40-70. This is because it is more suitable for their era and taste in music.. The instruments are classical and give a charming feel. This is because the mellow saxophone used within this jingle provides soothing and relaxing sound for the audience. There is a choir that sing throughout the single and the voices would only be recognisable to the audience that listen.
Capital FM
- The target audience are ages between 15-34. This is because the jingle is busy and has plenty of different sound effects that are modern. The instruments used are electric to create load noise and give an up beat feel. There are individual voices playing throughout the jingle and are recognisable voices to the audience that are listening to the station.

i INTRODUCTION TO RADIO
Radio was first created as a way to send telegraph messages between two people without wires, but soon two-way radio brought voice communication, including walkie talkies and eventually mobile phones. Now an important use of the radio is to broadcast news, music and entertainers. Radio shows were used before there were programs on the television. There ar companies also known as radio stations that make and send radio programming. They can be run by governments or by private companies that make money by advertising. Furthemore, some radio stations are also supported by their local communities. Radio waves are what are used to send messages between people. The main radio stations in the UK are BBC Radio 1, Heart, Capital FM, BBC radio 5 live, Smooth, Classic, Kiss and Magic.

A good start here Jessie! Can you explore the two Radio schedules? What are the differences/how do they attract their target audience/how do the presenters address their audiences?
